after a long period of time drinking energy drinks, beer and taking adderall, what could happen to you?

I have a friend that consumes a lot of alcohol with energy drink in it and he takes a lot of adderall. I am wondering if it a bad situation and could kill him?

Thanks for writing in with your question. This is absolutely a very bad situation that your friend is in. Mixing any kind of stimulant with alcohol can be very damaging.

When you mix a stimulant, such as adderall or an energy drink, with a depressant, such as beer, it can do a number of things. When you mix the stimulant with the depressant, it doesn't allow your brain to process the alcohol properly.
The caffeine and the stimulants will mask the effects of the alcohol, and a person won't realize how intoxicated they are and how much they have really had to drink.

This is one of the biggest causes of overdose or alcohol poisoning. Someone who is consuming alcohol with a stimulant may continue to drink until their body can no longer take it anymore without even realizing it. In some cases, the interaction of alcohol and the stimulants can cause seizures.

Simply put, what your friend is doing is incredibly dangerous. Mixing, or abusing, any substance(s) is very dangerous and should be discontinued immediately. If you think your friend has a problem with substances and may need further help, I urge you to talk to him and see if he would be willing to get some help.

Whether this would include a rehab, going to a 12 step meeting, or perhaps just going to therapy or something of that nature, extra help may be needed if he cannot stop on his own.

I hope I have answered your question, and please feel free to write in again if we can be of any further support!
