I am currently in a treatment facility and I don't feel comfortable. What can I do to find a better one?

Thank you for your question.

You should first think about why you don't feel comfortable. What were you looking for in treatment that you aren't getting? Are you feeling unsafe due to staff concerns or other patients, or are you just uncomfortable because you are not drinking anymore and you are still getting used to that?

Inpatient treatment in general can be and usually is a really uncomfortable place in the beginning. It's scary and I know that when I was there, my first instinct was to run. It got better after i was there for a few days.

Think about what you want out of treatment and if you can get it there. If you truly believe you can't get it there, try talking to staff and see what they think. Also try talking to your family or friends or whoever your support network is and see what their thoughts are. Our thoughts can be very disjointed when we are first getting sober, so it can be very helpful to run ideas by other people who have our best interests in mind.
